Abstract
Geopolitical characteristics of Russias Far East subject - Sakhalin Region - are described. The author substantiates the necessity for the revival and legislative recognition of the day of victory over militarist Japan as well as the implementation of an efficient policy aimed to protect Russian territorial integrity
