Abstract

The article presents a theory of world economic crisis cycles, their history and classification, and gives an account of key points in the theories of J. Kitchin, C. Juglar, S. Kuznets, N. Kondratiev, F. Braudel. A classification of internal and external cycle factors is presented. Crisis prevention measures attempted by prominent economists of the 19^th and 20^th centuries are demonstrated.
