Abstract

The material is based on E. Grakina's monograph 'Scientists to the Front. 1941-1945'. Research of the contribution of Soviet scientists to the victory over fascism is not limited to a study of their work for the war front and home front during the Great Patriotic War. The prerequisites of the victory were established long before the beginning of the war and included the country's leaders' awareness of the crucial role of science and scientists in society, the creation of a state-of-the-art system of research organization, the protection and development of scientific and cultural traditions.
