Abstract

The advantages and disadvantages of combining legal Russian legal system, Adat and the Shari'a in the North Caucasus are discussed, proposals are formulated for developing an adequate public policy for the region. The author also compares the Muslim branch of the law in its historic, procedural and other aspects.
