Abstract
In article the author investigates the constitutional and legal bases of a notariate in the Russian Federation. The author concentrates his attention on essence of notariate, specifics of legal status of the notary, analyzes current trends of development of the legislation on a notariate, feature of its legal regulation, reveals actual problems in the field and defines prospects of their overcoming.
