Socio-psychological study of ecological consciousness of civil servants

Abstract

The socio-psychological perspective underlies the implementation strategy of sustainable development of society, reflecting the need to examine the relevance of ecological consciousness of civil servants with respect to nature management and environmental protection. This type of consciousness is considered as their foundation in making ecologically-oriented management decisions. The results of this empirical study are presented. The articles demonstrates that environmental consciousness is the most important subjective factor to overcome consumeristic attitude of man to nature; that high level of ecological consciousness is of crucial importance when making managerial and strategic decisions on environmental issues. The empirical research substantiates the actual indicators of ecological consciousness of public servants of the Moscow region and it provides us with the effective ways of developing ecological consciousness in public servants.
