An integrated approach in the field of waste management

Abstract

The problem of waste management is highly relevant, as is evidenced by the development at the level of the Russian Federation Government's strategy for the management of municipal solid waste, which provides for the establishment of an effective management system. A key role in ensuring the implementation of this strategy is given to public authorities and local self-government. The article describes the experience of an integrated approach to solving the issues in this area in the city of Vladivostok. The conclusion that is reached is that the provision of a proper system of waste management is implemented as well as to attract investments in this sector of the economy, possible only when using an integrated approach and program-target method.
