Abstract

A distinctive feature of the Republic of Khakassia among other subjects of the Russian Federation is great saturation of the territory by the numerous and various archaeological sites. According to the scientific reports there are not less than 30 thousand mounds in Khakassia; there are 10 archaeological and ethnographic open-air museums. The activities of the developed network of the open-air museums in the Republic of Khakassia, created in the last five years, promote growing interest to the national cultural heritage of the Republic, create conditions for the spiritual and moral traditions revival. The emergence of the protected areas of historical and cultural significance in Khakassia opens a new page in the history of museums of southern Siberia.
