The author analyzes theoretical-methodological grounds for the Program of national safety in the Russian Federation. Geopolitics is able to define and forecast precisely the political-economic, socio-cultural ways of development of continents, countries, regions. Some methods of defining geopolitical tension in Russia, at the beginning of the 21^st century, are observed.
