The article is devoted to the urgent challenge of Russian language protection in the conditions of language space globalization and growth of the importance of the regional languages in the national entities of Russia. The author emphasizes that effective management of processes in the Russian language ontology is able to resist negative tendencies of the global language space unification and to consolidate position of the Russian language both inside the country and abroad.

The article analyses the current state of the Russian language; it exposes the essence of processes threatening to transfer the language from an active area of existence into the area of social anomia. The author considers the necessity of suppressing the destructive phenomenon of language muteness.
