The author analysises political and philosophical ideas of M.E. Epshtein and his conception of «Russian regionalism» and «AmRussia» in particular which he regards as cultural and historical view to a an American-Russian synthesis. The article is based upon Epshtein works 2011 interview.

This article focuses on the analysis of political and philosophical ideas of M.N. Epstein, particularly his concept of “transculture”. The article examines such topics as criticism of totalitarian culture in the USSR, the “critical universality”, critique of multiculturalism, Russian regionalism, criticism of neo-Marxist understanding of the intellectual, self-identity of the Russian Diaspora in the U.S.A. etc. The article is based on texts of M.N.Epstein and an interview taken by the author in 2011.

An interview with Raymond Taras, a professor of political science at Tulane University, addresses such topics as migration and its impact on the European identity, the role of political narratives in the formation of xenophobia, suggestions on best ways to integrate Russia into the new globalized world. We also provide an excerpt from his book «Europe Old and New: transnationalism, belonging, xenophobia», which previously has not been translated into Russian.
