The article focuses on a critical review of the existing theoretical concepts of international relations through the prism of their philosophical and methodological foundations and on their economic alternative - international political economy. The use of economic methodology in international studies is considered by the author as a step towards the synthesis of key methodological premises of traditional concepts of international relations.
