The author investigates the role of water and its social importance in the context of the human right to safe and pure water. Achievements and challenges in the sphere of water security are demonstrated on the example of the cooperation between Central Asian countries. The author provides an analysis of the role of Kazakhstan in the policy of distribution of water resources of transboundary rivers.
