The inversion concept of the multi-stage socio-economic development of regions is considered in the article. The comparative analysis of the socio-economic indicators of the development of regions such as Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District, Amur region, Tyva Republic, Vologda region is conducted by the author. It is concluded that the regional development in the conditions of the market transformation has its own specificity, which is expressed, on the one hand, in the general macroeconomic situation connected with the inversion process in Russia and on the other hand, - in the uneven economic development of the territories. The implementation of the inversion concept of the multi-stage socio-economic development will allow underdeveloped and depressed regions with the leveraging internal resources and effectively distributing budgetary funds to come to economic growth, and self-sufficient regions are going to become the locomotives of economic growth of the country.
