The article contains the analysis of the historical prerequisites of the Iraq war in 2003.The relationship of historical, political and geo-economic factors at different stages of development of the system of international relations is considered by the author. This relationship determines an increased interest in Iraq coming from the ideologists of the foreign policy of Washington and London.
