Abstract
In this article the author investigates the demographic position in the Republic of Mordovia, by conducting an analysis of official statistical data. It discusses the possible causes of the present demographic setting in the region, as well as actual endeavors and undertakings necessary for its improvement and the laying of necessary foundations for the improvement of the Republics demographic policy.
