The article emphasizes the topicality of the issue of prevention and settlement of conflict of interest in public service, stressing the extreme importance of the need to overcome a narrow view of the nature of conflict of interest and attempting to expand the approaches to the understanding of the term. A refined definition of conflict of interest is suggested.
