In this article the author presented the findings of a scientific research project titled “Culture, religion and society” operating in the Republic Tatarstan. The project developed a modern methodological and conceptualy theoretical basis in the research program relative to studying the history and interfaith relations, generalized experience of interfaith and interethnic relations in the Republic. It also analyzes a number of key problems and stories of denominational church-state relations in the Volga-Urals region.
