Abstract

The experience of international and regional cooperation in the Barents region is considered in the article. The cross-border regional relations are becoming particularly topical in the period of current anti-Russia’s sanctions. However, a zone of confidence and stability has been formed in the region during 20 years which is based on the commitment of all member-countries of the Council of the Barents Euro-Arctic region to the principles of indivisible and universal security, the need to settle all their disputes through negotiations and on the basis of reasonable compromises that allows, despite the existing political controversy, to support each other and promote cooperation in the North.
