Abstract
The article discusses the prospects for the implementation of intelligent energy metering systems (IEMS) as a key element of modern energy infrastructure. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of IEMS implementation in the context of developing the “smart city” concept and the digital transformation of the energy sector. The authors examine the impact of IEMS on the development of energy efficiency in the economy, the stimulation of innovative technologies, and the creation of new jobs; they consider the prospects for integrating IEMS with machine learning technologies. The possibility of creating a unified digital ecosystem for energy consumption is also noted. The authors analyze the economic benefits of implementing IEMS, including reduced electricity losses, cost optimization, and improved customer service. The social effects of implementing these systems are emphasized: simplified interaction with energy companies, the ability to control costs, and improved environmental conditions. The authors propose initiating the development of administrative measures that will allow the full potential of IEMS to be realized.
