Using AI agents in research management: a case study of the Cyberprofessor online platform

Abstract

This article analyzes the potential applications of online platforms in research management using the Russian system «Cyberprofessor» as an example. The study offers a set of instruments for addressing a variety of tasks, including formulating hypotheses and topics, creating a research plan, searching electronic databases for information, and preparing the text of a scientific paper for ethical review and final verification. The article provides an overview of the individual services of the Cyberprofessor platform in RANEPA students’ personal accounts, emphasizing the initial stages of research. It also draws general conclusions about the practical application of such systems. Based on the research conducted, including a study of how similar systems function abroad, the author proposes a deep search concept based on a multi-agent system. This system includes AI agents that interact with researchers through a single interface. This interface allows researchers to track and adjust the results of each stage of their work. The work also emphasizes the importance of using a supervisor agent and a methodologist agent. These agents coordinate the activities of other agents, provide methodological support for the research process, and divide extensive research goals into smaller tasks.
