The Bologna Declaration and Competitiveness of Russian Graduates

Received: 15.01.2011 Published: 15.01.2011

Abstract

Russia joined the Bologna Process in 2003. The Bologna agreements, while seemingly simple, must inevitably entail considerable changes in the vocational education systems of every European country, particularly so in Russia and former socialist community states. However, the introduction of the two-tier system is fraught with difficulties and errors, mostly bureaucratic and ideological. The author provides powerful arguments in favour of accelerated acceptance of the progressive approach.
