IN THE SEARCH FOR A BALANCE OF INTERESTS. About the conference in St. Petersburg

Abstract

During 10-11 October 2014, St. Petersburg hosted the conference titled «Migration: the Russian and French approach. A cross-view» dedicated substantially to the subject of migration of both countries. The organizers of the debate included, the Institute of Public Administration and Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and the French Embassy in Russia. The conference was attended by experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the French Council of State, regional officials, representatives of the Russian State authorities at federal and regional level, the Federal Migration Service of Russia, as well as representatives of religious and social organizations of the two countries. They discussed global issues related to migration, economic and geopolitical features of the regions and the prospects of demographic developments of Russia and France. Particular attention was paid to the positive effects of migration processes. Lydia Kornilova
