The article outlines possibilities and limitations of the application of an economic approach to address public administration challenges. The efficiency of New Public Management as a conceptual basis for the reformation of the public sector is evaluated. The author suggests ground rules for the development of the Russian public service model based on such concepts as meritocracy, project activities, creation of a national personnel training system.

The author uses the results of opinion polls in North Caucasian republics to develop a methodology for the assessment of the efficiency of the state's activity in the regions. Research is conducted according to the 12 development areas outlined in the state program 'Development of the North Caucasian Federal District for the period until 2025'. The instrument suggested by the author is considered as part of a comprehensive assessment which should also include economic indicators. The methodology is adaptable to other territories and subjects of the Federation.

The article explores the impact of the change in competitive conditions on the European energy market on the macroeconomic situation in the Russian Federation. The influence of the European sustainable economic development strategy, Europe 2020: a strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth on increasing energy efficiency of the European economy is evaluated. Forecasts of possible changes in the macroeconomic situation in Russia in case of a drop in energy prices are analyzed. Possible amendments to macroeconomic policy are considered.

В серии «Библиотека Российской ассоциации политической науки» вышла книга, которой априори не грозит участь остаться незамеченной. Речь идет о монографии «Политическая коммуникативистика: теория, методология и практика» (редактор - доктор политических наук, профессор РАНХиГС Л.Н.Тимофеева). И дело не только в том, что в российском политологическом контексте это – фактически первое издание, представляющее результаты комплексного коллективного исследования политической коммуникации (хотя сам по себе этот факт можно считать знаковым). Монография – результат деятельности профессионалов, каждый из которых имеет свою интересную, самостоятельную научную биографию. Причем, векторы их биографий отнюдь не всегда и не во всем совпадают. Тем не менее, перед нами – коллективный труд, созданный именно командой профессионалов, объединенных интересом к осмыслению и освоению противоречивого, емкого и постоянно меняющегося феномена – политической коммуникации.
