Abstract
2016 is announced as the year of British language and literature in Russia. Of course, a special place in a series of events of this year is given to the creative works of William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616). Though four hundred years have already passed since his death, the greatest English playwright keeps attracting attention far beyond his motherland. The “Shakespeare Lives” festival takes place in Russia, in the framework of the events of this year there is a summer festival in Moscow parks with lectures, concerts, film screenings and decorations in the style of the XVI century, performances of the British theaters during the new season of “TheatreHD”. The video recordings of the performances of the Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Barbican center with the participation of Stephen Fry, Judi Dench, Benedict Cumberbatch and other famous actors are presented on the big screens. Shakespeare's creative work vividly reflected the spirit of the age. It, like any other outstanding artistic heritage, allows you to select not only the major events of the time of its creation, but also gives a conceptual vision of the pattern of world development for decades and centuries to come. The popularity of his works is enormous. It corresponds to the scope of disputes about the authorship of this literary heritage. Since there are discussions of Shakespeare's adepts, it is impossible sometimes to see that Shakespeare, like any genius, reflected not only the most of the problems of his epoch, but also acted as a liaison of times. His works allow you to discover and comprehend the basic themes of human existence, equally inherent to the past, present and future. Geopolitical issues are naturally presented among these topics.
